Favorite song: Holiday
My favorite Green Day album, and probably one of my favorite albums of all time. It's a masterpiece, and I understand why it's Green Day's most popular album ever. I love the artwort, I love the sound, and I like that it's a concept album that provides a commentary on post-9/11 America. There's not one bad song on this entire album. Even though Green Day tried to recreate this sound on 21st Centry Breakdown, I don't think that anyone will ever be able to make something like this ever again. It's punk but it's also a complex and grand rock opera that contains songs with multiple movements. Even when I wasn't the biggest listener of alternative music I stil knew and enjoyed this album, so it's kind of always been with me. Something I always associate with this album is the time I was at school wearing a shirt with the album art on it and almost got dress coded for it. I was just minding my business walking into the restroom and a teacher followed me in and demanded to know what was on my shirt. I said "It's the album cover for Green Day's American Idiot," and for some reason that made it all okay and she left me alone to piss in peace.
